You receive a private copy of the complete source code and control your deployed website. InBrief remains the original code owner and copyright holder of the reusable template; your copy is licensed to you, not transferred or sold for redistribution. This page explains, in plain terms, what that means in practice — and it is deliberately short, because a licence nobody reads protects nobody.
1. Which licence you hold
Set by what you purchased. Both licences carry the complete product — the full source code, the full frontend and the full admin dashboard. No feature is withheld from either, and paying more never unlocks a feature; it changes what you are permitted to do, or how much of our time you bought.
- Business licence (`business`) — one production website, for one business or brand. Sold as Business, and as Business + Setup where we also carry out the initial deployment with you. The two are the same licence: the setup tier buys service time, not wider rights.
- Agency licence (`agency`) — one production website per client, up to 5 separate client production websites, unless your purchase states a different number. For agencies, freelancers, developers and software companies building for other people's businesses.
An agency licence is not a larger business licence. It is the licence for a different buyer: someone building websites for other people and charging them for it, which a business licence does not permit at all.
2. What you are granted
On payment in full, InBrief gives you a private copy and grants you a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use, modify and deploy it within the scope of the licence you purchased. Perpetual means it does not expire and there is no recurring fee for the licence itself.
3. Who owns what
You receive a private copy of the complete source code and control your deployed website. InBrief remains the original code owner and copyright holder of the reusable template; your copy is licensed to you, not transferred or sold for redistribution.
InBrief remains the original code owner and copyright holder, and owns the intellectual property in the reusable template, including its source code, structure, design and documentation. Buying a licence does not transfer copyright or any other ownership right in that template.
Everything you add is yours: your content, your images, your text, your branding, your configuration, your domain, your data, and any code you write yourself. Your deployed website is yours to run, sell services around, and keep after this licence ends for any reason other than termination for breach.
4. What you may do
- Deploy production websites up to the number your licence covers — one for a business licence, or up to 5 client websites for an agency licence unless your purchase states otherwise.
- Modify the code in any way you like, with no obligation to publish your changes.
- Use the resulting website commercially, with no limit on the revenue it generates.
- Host it on any infrastructure you choose.
- Hire employees, freelancers or agencies to work on it for you. They work under your licence and are bound by the same restrictions.
- Under an agency licence, charge clients for development, setup, customisation, design, content, hosting and maintenance.
5. Client work: the finished website, not the reusable template
Selling a finished client website is allowed. Selling the underlying reusable template is not.
Under an agency licence you may build a finished, customised website for a client, sell it to them at whatever price you agree, and hand it over — including its source — for that client to own and operate as their own website. That is a delivery of the project you were paid to build, and it counts as one of the client websites your licence covers.
What you may not do is hand over or sell the reusable template as a product in its own right — as a starting point for further websites, as a package, as a theme, or as something the client may pass on again. The distinction is between the website you built and the tool you built it with.
The client receives the finished website on the terms of this licence, which continue to apply to them. Anything wider — a client who wants to resell it, or to use it as a template for further sites — needs its own licence.
6. What you may not do
- Resell, redistribute, publish or otherwise make available the reusable source code, in whole or in substantial part, whether free or paid.
- Upload it to a template marketplace — CodeCanyon, ThemeForest or similar — or distribute it as a template, theme, boilerplate or starter kit.
- Publish the template source in a public repository.
- Sell licences or copies of the template, sell sublicences, or purport to license the template to anyone else.
- Create a product that competes with the template and is substantially derived from it.
- Use one purchase across multiple unrelated businesses or clients beyond what your licence covers.
- Claim authorship or copyright ownership of the underlying template, or remove copyright notices from it.
Publishing your own deployed website is not redistribution. Putting the template's source in a public repository is.
7. If you need more than this
More client websites than your licence covers is an Extended Agency License: tell us the volume and it is quoted. No unlimited price is published, because the right number depends on what you are building rather than on a figure picked in advance.
Resale, redistribution, white-label licensing, sublicensing, marketplace distribution, bundling the reusable source into another commercial product, and anything else outside the business and agency licences are available under a Reseller / Extended Commercial License. That requires explicit written permission from InBrief — nothing in this category is granted by assumption.
Write to us and describe what you want to do — the answer is often yes, but it has to be agreed rather than assumed.
8. Third-party components
The template depends on open-source software — Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS and others — which is not ours and is not covered by this licence. Each remains governed by its own licence, and those licences give you rights this one does not restrict. Dependencies are installed from npm by you, not redistributed by us.
Do not remove third-party copyright or licence notices from the code.
9. Termination
This licence ends if you materially breach it and do not put the breach right within 30 days of us telling you about it in writing. On termination you must stop using and distributing the template and delete copies you still hold.
Content you created, and code you wrote yourself, are unaffected.
